Pinterest

Pinterest is another social networking tool and I heard a lot about it. It is seriously addicting. What you think, do we need another social network where we can waste precious hours of our lives? Any way it has 2.7 million users (those who are signing in with face book). It is a fun and fashionable alternate in the world of social networking. It is a Social Networking tool used to “Pin” images found around the web into different categories, collections and boards. You can follow others, make comments, like others, share contents and tag users as well like other social networks e.g. face book and twitter. You can also get Real-Time updates just like twitter.
Furthermore we see how it does work? It combines two most compelling element of Social media, 1- visual contents and 2- sharing who you are? Its user interface is extremely elegant. Pinterest  is still invite only but for the instant access you can also login from your face book or twitter account.
Pinterest’s features:

Pin is an image or video either from web site or uploaded from the user. Description can be added in it.

Boards

Organized form of pin by topic is called boards. Pinterest starts users off with a bunch of boards by default. These can be deleted or rename as well.  Within pin boards you can create collections of everything. You can explore and share your ideas and experiences.

Following   same like face book and twitter you can follow any one. You have an option to follow all of another user’s board or you can follow selectively. You can sign up using your face book and twitter account which makes it easy to find out your friends already using pinterest.

Repins are like retweets. Repining is sharing an image pinned by someone. You can also edit the description when you repin.

Likes   No need to follow someone to like their pin. It just adds it to
like on your “Profile”.

“Pin it” a button can be added right into your browser (currently available for chrome only). A choice is given to you, which image you want to choose for pinning. You select the board to add the pin, and a description as well.
Sharing   Anything you can share on face book and twitter, you can easily share on pinterest as well.

There are share buttons along with pin.

  1. I believe that a social media consultant must be attuned to the company goals and aspirations if he or she is to represent them on their social media channels. I also think that outsourcing social media marketing is a good idea for a company looking to specialize in their core business. In any case, most businesses outsource marketing and advertising and I don’t see why social media marketing should be any different. You just need to be actively involved to ensure that you are represented in the way that you want
